Wildfire smoke potentially ruining the second night of shooting the Aurora. Heading ~3 hours southwest for best chances. Just in case I didn’t get everything I needed for my shots last night!

Whelp, something wrong with my plane, which means I’m missing my connecting flight. Going to be interesting to see if I can still make this work. Safety first of course, but this really came at a bad time! Air Canada have any suggestions?

Decided it was more important to pack extra cameras than extra clothes given the current state of the aurora…

I want to get super high resolution photos of this event, so am flying to Canada to get them. Once I start chasing a dream shot there’s no stopping me 😂

A look at my solar telescope and the most active sunspot in decades

More sun spam. Today is my only day with my solar telescope so I'm making the most of it.

Tomorrow I'll be traveling the world *yet again* chasing down the perfect aurora shot.... produced by this very same sunspot.

The full-disc sun photo I'm working on is pretty wild. The giant sunspot hogs the attention, but there's a ton of other cool things happening, like this stream of plasma hanging off the limb.

This sunspot is an absolute tangled mess, no wonder it keeps burping our direction!

I’ll be shooting this all day in case it does something. This is just a low quality screen grab, high res stuff on the way!
