This is shocking, but all in-person academic conferences are inherently exclusionary

- to academics from Global South
- to caregivers, women, people with disabilities
- to those without funding
- to those who won't fly on ethical grounds because this is a Planetary Emergency

Imagine you're a research organisation keen to invite Global South researchers to spend time collaborating with your staff and students. The red tape, uncertainty, expense turn what should be a positive exchange into a nightmare, and make you embarassed for your country
