why are security figures in Israel worried about the academic boycott?

'because the academy is the oxygen of the security industry'

which is also exactly why the boycott is such a basic+essential act of solidarity with Palestinians on the sharp end of Israel's security industry

What happened here is that RTE Arena told award winning touring Palestinian Poet Rafeef Ziadah, here to perform at literary festivals and in our national theatre, that instead of being featured on their arts show she should try Clare Byrne who would be able to provide 'balance'.

It's been raining cats and dogs for hours, and the University of Sydney Gaza encampment is packed and defiant. If only the university's leaders had a fraction of students' moral clarity and principle.

I'm hearing disturbing reports that students face suspension if they don’t end their peaceful protests in in the USA. This is a clear violation of their right to peaceful assembly

For me at least, being on social media, trying to keep up etc has a flattening affect.

Listening to Rafeef Ziadah pay tribute to Refaat Alareer in Maynooth today punctured that. She was also crystal clear that we need to do so much more here in Ireland.

Rafeef Ziadah's Let It Be A Tale
tour with Phil Monsour is a privilege to see. Her work is moving & powerful, such a call to action for Palestine. It is a disgrace & an embarrassment that RTÉ's Arena disinvited & referred her elsewhere for 'balance', where is their integrity?
