George and I have had a long day sampling the Rivers Ouse, Derwent, Don, Trent and Hull and the Humber estuary. Over the next year, George will be working to understand levels of pharmaceutical contamination across the system.

Happy to share the third paper from my PhD! Check it out if you want to learn about the hidden microbial world that lives on our plastic waste and how it might mediate the impacts of plastic pollution in our aquatic systems! 🦠🐟🔬

Had a fun day yesterday with leanahosea visiting some of our monitoring sites and talking about pharmaceutical pollution. It'll be interesting to hear how the local ducks view the issue🦆

It was great to welcome David Tickner from WWF UK to York today. Dave gave an inspiring talk on how scientists can help bend the curve of biodiversity loss. His final message was that we need to start thinking like a river.
