Fire is getting faster! The Arlington County Fire Department would like to remind you to close your door before you doze to slow down fire growth in case of a fire emergency.

The crew from station 2, A shift took advantage of the nice weather to practice some of their technical rescue skills. Technical rescue specialists used this opportunity to refine their own skills, while also passing along valuable knowledge to newer members.

Assistant Chief Jenkins administered the recruit oath to the 21 personnel of Recruit Class 83, officially beginning their career in the fire service. Over the next 6 months, recruits will work hard to develop their skills in firefighting and EMS, as well leadership and teamwork.

⚠️Awareness:⚠️ If you're around Woodrow Wilson Bridge today, you may see rescuers suspended from ropes under the bridge on the Alexandria side. This is a training exercise that will be going on through Thursday. It will not impact traffic or waterways. #RC2024

Units are on scene at the 5100 blk of Wilson Blvd for a Hazmat incident. Source was determined to be a freon leak from a malfunctioning commercial fridge. Power was secured to the unit and the building was ventilated. No more readings or hazard.
