'El Terrible' Erik Morales scored a triumphant and entertaining 12 round unanimous decision over Manny 'Pac Man' Pacquiao in Las Vegas, Nevada #OnThisDay in 2005. Despite losing, Pacquiao helped make his first loss in five years very exciting.
Rafael Herrera won the bantamweight championship with an 8th round KO of Rubén Olivares in Ciudad de México, México #OnThisDay in 1972. Herrera used his jab to control most of the fight and then cut Olivares in the 6th. A right-left combination ended the fight in round 8.
Sammy Angott came out of retirement to hand 62-0 Willie Pep his first professional loss with a 10 round unanimous decision at Madison Square Garden in New York #OnThisDay in 1943. Pep had difficulty with Angott's style and rhythm, and a late rush couldn't keep his record intact.
'Dancing Destroyer' Herbie Hide won the WBO heavyweight title with a 7th round KO of Michael Bentt in London, England #OnThisDay in 1994. Hide dominated and stung Bentt more before a series of right hands sent Bentt sprawling, and he couldn't beat the count.

Michael Spinks became the first unified light heavyweight champion since Bob Foster when he won a 15 round unanimous decision over Dwight Muhammad Qawi in Atlantic City, New Jersey #OnThisDay in 1983. Spinks was ruled down in round 8 off what looked to be a slip.
'Iron' Mike Tyson scored a controversial 7th round TKO of Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock in Las Vegas, Nevada #OnThisDay in 1991. Despite both fighters swinging hard, the bout wasn't particularly close before Tyson broke through with a combination that hurt Ruddock and ended the fight.
'Pretty Boy' Floyd Mayweather defended the WBC junior lightweight title with a dominant 12 round unanimous decision over Gregorio Vargas in Las Vegas, Nevada #OnThisDay in 2000. Mayweather knocked Vargas down in round 6 but blamed a sore right paw for a long fight.
Diego 'Chico' Corrales defended the IBF junior lightweight title with a 3rd round TKO of Derrick Gainer in Las Vegas, Nevada #OnThisDay in 2000. A left hook put Gainer down before he hit the deck again on the follow up. Despite beating the count, Gainer was stopped by the ref.
