In 2019 & 2021, the govt instructed universities 'to increase the number of international HE students hosted in the UK to 600k per year', to 'increase the value of our education exports'.

When you punish unis for implementing govt policy, maybe gloating isn't the right response?

After a busy couple of days, I needed a couple of hours in the calm green oasis of Holme Fen NNR - sunlight filtered by Silver Birch, sculptural shapes of Scaly Male-ferns, scurries of Green Tiger-beetles and the ever-present call of a Cuckoo

On November 12, 1833, there was a meteor shower so intense that it was possible to see up to 100,000 meteors crossing the sky every hour. At the time, many thought it was the end of the world, so much so that it inspired this woodcut by Adolf Vollmy.
