Unless it's a weird dream I had I think Paxman once interviewed Joey Barton on Newsnight and presented him to viewers as some kind of football-playing philosopher.

Whether to mention the two political scandals Derek Draper was involved in is a tricky one for broadcasters. BBC at 1pm gave details of both but by 6pm only one of them. ITV evening news swiftly skated over them with just a few words.

Poor Tom Swarbrick. Still grappling with whether a woman can have a penis, he now can't get his head round the idea that some older people who have suffered abuse or could be at risk of it might choose to live in the same apartment block.

Disappointing to hear Gordon Brown record a glowing tribute to Nick Ferrari on the 20th anniversary of Ferrari's show.
Then again, Brown was best mates with the Mail's Paul Dacre - not that it did him much good.

Asked about the Met's War Crimes unit assisting the International Criminal Court in respect of Gaza/Israel which is part of their remit the former human rights lawyer Starmer says he's surprised by it but he has no knowledge of the subject at all. What?!

A sign you're a bit in love is when you see even someone's flaws as qualities. So the Guardian's John Crace thinks Starmer's ability to bore you into catatonia (For any Tories reading, that's not a region of Spain) is part of his appeal. As is the serial liar's 'decency'.

Amol Rajan describes the right-wing Telegraph and Spectator as 'very important civic institutions' which would be a bizarre way to describe any publication even if it was a paragon of fact-based quality journalism which those purveyors of woke-obsessed drivel are not.

Completely overwhelmed by the response to and the outpouring of outrage over the scandal and cover up. It’s more than any of us dared hope that it would move the campaign along, but sometimes drama can do that. And now: JUSTICE for the thousands affected.

Wouldn’t you expect a competent lawyer, knowing he would be asked about this, to have done a little due diligence?

I am so bored that Labour keeps saying it will deliver growth by changing planning regulation. This is pure Tufton Street think-tank far-right nonsense that has no hope of changing anything (if at all) in the real economy for many years after Labour might get into office.

Starmer is now rehashing the bogus argument that Sunak has no mandate to govern because he didn't become PM by winning an election. That's constitutional nonsense as he well knows. Cleaning up politics should include not lying about how our system works.

The teenager in the body of a 43 year old man who is our Prime Minister says 'There's lots I wanna get on with' and 'I wanna keep going' and 'We wanna get the Rwanda flights off the ground'. But most of the country wanna see him a gonna and as soon as possible.

The ways of the rich are intriguing. Nick Ferrari, who is trending, said today he pays a woman to come and clean his house (an unimaginably awful job 🤮) but he goes to Aldi to buy the cheapest possible cleaning products for her to use.

Maybe Nick Robinson has found his true niche in broadcasting: doing human interest, colour pieces around the country. The Monty Modlyn* of our times. He'd do less harm that way.
*one for older readers.

The news triggers memories of my 16 year old traumatic encounter with darts at a local pub. When I kept failing to hit the board my mates asked me to keep the score instead but asking a dyscalculic to do mental arithmetic was like asking the landlord's dog to explain gravity. 🤦‍♂️

And the government is telling us Ofcom will be good enough to regulate the entire internet, when they can’t manage one little TV station.

Gave the R4 Media Show a whirl. Yet another plug for the BBC show Traitors. Surely there are more important aspects of the media to analyse than a stupid sodding game show.

Richard Tice of ReformUK thinks Starmer is a socialist.😄
If that were ever to become the case Starmer would have to expel himself from the party he leads.
