I'm back on the NSW central coast and observed a linguistic oddity in the wild which previously I only noticed in myself: an occasional tendency to refer to a collective plural as a singular. Eg 'are there lamingtons?' 'There is plenty of lamingtons.' Instead of 'there are'.
