Democratic rights such as free speech have become a luxury the capitalist class can no longer afford. Massively unpopular, facing widespread opposition to policies such as their support for Gaza genocide, the rulers of this decrepit system can respond only with brutal repression.

The Ontario NDP condemned Sarah Jama and expelled her from its caucus for daring to support Palestine. A party cannot stand against anti-Arab, anti-Palestinian racism driven by the imperialist interests of the capitalist class when it grovels before the imperialists.

The capitalist state displays its innate racism in Ontario legislature, which banned keffiyehs on grounds that this is a 'political message'. This hypocritical rule is never applied to MPPs wearing red poppies, but only to symbols that threaten interests of Canadian imperialism.
