It really is #spring ! Today we had the first sighting of a brood of Egyptian #goslings at Rush pond. Last year’s first brood was out and about at the beginning of March, but this year there haven’t been any other chicks so far 🧡 #egyptiangeese #Chislehurst #villageponds
A speckled wood butterfly basking in this morning’s sunshine ☀️ These butterflies fly in the dappled shade along woodland paths on the common. Look out for them from March to October.

This is a small tortoiseshell butterfly - an increasingly rare species - recorded recently on the Commons. Read our #April newsletter to find out about this and other recent observations.

This #Easter , test your knowledge on our #NatureQuiz 🐰🌸🐣 Fun questions for all the family will be displayed on trees along the main paths. Find Q1. near the noticeboard at Prickend Pond, but you can do the trail in any order. Good luck, and we hope you enjoy it!

First cut-and-rake of the year at the Ramblers Rest! The poorer the soil, the more wildflowers, so we remove the cuttings to prevent the nutrients enriching the soil. Look out for a carpet of buttercups here in the next few weeks 💛 Visit Chislehurst Chislehurst Society Chislehurst Rotary
Delighted to see this #bluetit checking out one of the #birdboxes constructed & positioned by #volunteers . The boxes are well-used each year by blue tits & #greattits looking for a sheltered place to nest. We're planning to offer a greater range of accommodation, i.e. #owl boxes
Valentine’s Day and our #volunteers are showing their love for the #woodlands by planting some whips and saplings - hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, spindle, hornbeam - and opening up one of the glades to more sunlight & air 💚 #lovenature
