I'm breaking my Twitter fast for a very good cause-Nancy French's beautiful, wonderful, funny, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful and redemptive memoir is out today. Yes, I'm biased, but it truly is great. You will love reading this book: amazon.com/Ghosted-Americ…

I'm breaking my Twitter fast to ask for prayer.

My brilliant, courageous, and beautiful wife has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She has a long, hard road ahead, but we trust God. May he bless and comfort her as she endures this terrible trial.

My friend Yascha Mounk told me that this was a great speech, but still my hopes were low.

Now I'm crying - in the bitterest times, to see someone stand up for the right and the good - and to do it with such power and beauty. I need to be posting this and not my own anger.

Ukraine needs massive amounts of munitions.
Israel needs highly specific technologies.
Ukraine needs long-term reconstruction programs.
Israel needs short-term humanitarian cash.
Ukraine needs entry to the EU.
Israel needs peace from its neighbors.
There's no conflict here.

This has been a heartbreaking and horrific week, but inadvertently, it’s also been a useful one. We on the Right are learning about a whole crop of anti-Semites whose opinions, commentary, and lack of moral compass should be disregarded and discarded into the ash heap of history

This conclusion absolutely matches my experience. There is a kind of learned helplessness that has set in with some of our kids, cultivated by well-meaning adults who sometimes seem to seek their kids' emotional and physical protection above all.

I'm always proud to work for The Atlantic , but never more than this week. Here's Conor Friedersdorf on 'Students for Pogroms.'

Another school goes phone-free, another school finds overwhelming benefits from the policy. Students are more focused, calm, and sociable. Teachers no longer forced to be phone police; can focus on teaching.

Important piece by David French showing there is a way - incredibly difficult and dangerous - for Israel to eliminate Hamas while still observing international law.

Israel can defeat Hamas within the bounds of international law, David French argues, but that law must be understood. “Hamas is helped by an enormous amount of public ignorance combined with outright misinformation,” he writes.

I posted this David French newsletter yesterday, but am reupping, because I found it extremely useful in thinking about the laws of war (which I do not know, and run to 1236 pages in the DoD manual) and how they might apply here.
