Especially when therapists define 'mental health' as being able to hold down a job and doctors limit their actions to palliatives instead of joining the fight against the causes of depression, e.g., being overworked & underpaid!

While it's great PIP is in the headlines, disabled people have suffered with this brutal and incompetent system for nearly 15 years. We need a commitment to find a fairer system to support disabled people and abolish PIP once and for all.

Arguments against using the term ‘ableism’:
‘what she said was “what about ability?” That was when I realized that using ableism makes it really easy for people to equate ableism with discrimination based on ability. This is a very problematic association’

We rightly get angry at what's happening to unpaid carers, but I wish we'd do more than shrug our shoulders at the claimants who are sanctioned 5-600,000 times a year up to £90 a week, some for 2 months or more, for being late/missing a meeting.

Time and time again I see organizers struggle to figure out HOW to plan a virtual conference. I think disabled ingenuity and wisdom can help solve the 'online conferences suck' issue. So if you have exp or knowledge, drop it below! Here are some things to start with 2/12

'This is the sort of conduct which anyone in receipt of services from a Jobcentre would fear, that if work coaches or other staff are challenged, there will be reprisals,' an employment tribunal found.

Fanon's observations about the political tendencies of doctors are as relevant today as ever. They are rooted in what he saw as he worked as a psychiatrist in French-colonized Algeria during its struggle for liberation, in which as many as 1.5 million Algerians were killed. 1/13

'I am shocked about the barriers and discrimination that I have had to go through. I was shocked about the lack of training [DWP/Jobcentre] staff have had, lack of deaf awareness and how I have been stuck in a system and unable to move on...'

In solidarity with SOAS Liberated Zone today we supported building & installation of wheelchair ramp making the space more accessible for disabled activists there.

There’s no liberation worth the name without the liberation of disabled people. Or without the Palestinian people
