Haney vs. Garcia was a thrilling spectacle. But Ryan Garcia cheated. He came in heavy and beat up an opponent who made weight. If that makes him the 'face' of the sport, what sort of a sport do we have exactly?

Just finished writing something about Haney vs Garcia (ohh, I have thoughts) and went looking for this clip. Turns out the actual broadcaster tweeted a clip of a fighters wearing an 'RIP' shirt for his opponent. The tweet is still up. Can we all just get a grip?

It was a big performance from Garcia.

But it's not a legitimate win, because he chose to miss weight and take an unfair advantage into the ring.

And that fact renders his win largely meaningless unfortunately. He can't be classed as a top 140 because he didn't box at 140.

I'd say making weight for championship fights is the name of the game and no one should be letting that become a footnote.

Let's all keep in mind that Ryan Garcia purposefully missed weight and had an advantage. That being said, very few thought he was mentally fit for this fight. Turns out, his fighting instincts pulled off the massive upset.

DAZN giving *so much* credit to the decisive power of the bloke who weighted in 3lbs over. It's not good.

Full respect to Ryan Garcia the fighter. Incredible performance all things considered. If everything beforehand was also a performance, he's a rank rather than troubled individual. The truth probably somewhere in the middle. Anyway, let's do that again.
