'The right of the people to keep and bear arms, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.'

The Framers intentionally worded the Second Amendment that way for a reason.

The right ALREADY EXISTED, the Second Amendment merely protects that right.

See United States v. Cruikshank, 1876:

There is no viable path to repealing the Second Amendment.

You need 3/4ths of states on your side to amend/repeal the Second Amendment.

There are currently 29 constitutional carry states, you will struggle getting just 1/4ths of states on your side, let alone 3/4ths.

If you read the plain text of the Second Amendment, it clearly states that the right to keep and bear arms belongs to the PEOPLE.

Not to a well regulated militia.

Is 27 words that difficult for you to comprehend?

Today's history tidbit is another late one - this from September, 1955 in the American Bar Association publication.

Sol M. Linowitz was lawyer, diplomat and businessman.

Did he believe the Bill of Rights protected the Right of states to have militias?

Well.. again, NO!

A 19th century tidbit, this one from a popular encyclopedia.

Chambers's Information For The People, 15th Edition, 1859

ALL Rights mentioned are individual Rights.

'The people are secured in the right of bearing arms, of fair trial, and in the possession of their property..'

Today's history tidbit is a July 4th oration delivered in Albany, NY in 1839.

Did they expound on armed state militias defending the people? No.

'.. never yield the right to possess arms, and to bear them if necessary, in defence of your altars and your fire-sides'
