Happy Primrose Day! Dandy, aesthete, novelist and patriot, defender of Altar, Throne and Hearth, and certainly not the wet liberal of modern day so-called 'One Nation Conservative' fantasy, Benjamin Disraeli died 143 years ago today. Remember him

How convincing is any 'end <insert cause for ire here> culture' policy when you've been in office for 14 years?

To whet people's appetites for my forthcoming book – due to be published imminently, I promise – I had a lovely and long chat with Felicity Evans and James Williams for Walescast. Diolch/thanks both!
I'm on from 17 minutes.

When did the 'original sin' thesis that making money from colonialism taints behaviour/worldview nearly 200 years later become widely accepted?

Does the impact of a personal vote vary based on the type of election? Seems to be low for MPs, slightly higher for (some) cllrs, and perhaps Andy Street (and Houchen?) might show it's higher for metro mayors.

Perhaps the PV is linked to level of perceived/desired independence?

Met Chief making out like Suella was crazy for calling them hate marches whilst his officers ban visibly Jewish people from going anywhere near said marches.

Crazy level of cognitive dissonance.

There's a bit of tension between the PM needing a break and cracking down on 'sick notes'. I've worked intensely and need a break, they are lazy and must be pushed back to work.

This is absolutely chilling. If this 'openly Jewish' man cannot walk the streets when these pro-Palestinian marches are happening, they are clearly not safe and should be banned.

Lewis Goodall and the News Agents on Nicola Sturgeon, January 2023:

'One of the few constants in British politics. She resigned at the moment of her choosing doing an unprecedented thing in British politics. Just a bit better at politics than some of these people'

As usual Joxley is right. And with the growing number of think-tankers hoping to find a nice safe Tory seat, can we trust them to speak truth unto power?

Our party needs an honest debate about these 14 years, not ex-leaders polishing their records

Still watching this - so far polls over the last 7 days or so haven't shown any further upwards moves for Reform UK.

Need a good result in Blackpool South (which I think would need to 20%+ to be 'good' given constituency profile) to counterbalance lack of candidates in locals.
