Across the season, Environment Officers like Jake will be taking more than 7,000 samples at 451 designated bathing water sites across England to monitor water quality.

Fantastic to see so many elvers using our eel pass to bypass our weir at Cambridge. We monitor the pass usage & as you can see, many are migrating upstream which is great to see. These young eels will continue to migrate upstream, looking for habitat to grow & thrive in.

Defra UK announced the designation of 27 new bathing water sites across England.

We provide rigorous testing so people can make informed decisions before going swimming in one of England’s 451 designated bathing water sites.

Environment Agency We’re also consulting later this year on proposals to reform the bathing water regulations.

Our proposals will help improve bathing water quality and enhance monitoring, while also preventing automatic de-designation of existing sites.
