After a fiercely busy week, here I am on the beautiful Clyde coast getting ready for tomorrow morning’s opening session of the Cove & Kilcreggan Book Festival, when I interview Nicola Sturgeon about her life as a reader, and her favourite books. Looking forward to it!

Looking at the damage the rain has caused around Argyll on social media. It will be days if not weeks before a lot of the critical transportation links are open again. If this area is to have any economic future, there needs to be MASSIVE investment in resilience and adaptation.

Well, @theBMA has been warning that this was happening for years, but we keep being told 'oh, people are lining up to get into medical school! You're worried about nothing!'

There's no point getting people through medical school if we then drive them out of the NHS afterwards.

All in the same storm but not all in the same boat. Junior doctors are asking for pay restoration - some from just £14/hour to £19/hour. That’s it. If the government can’t afford that then everyone is going to have to fund their own healthcare. And you really don’t want that!

There's an organised movement in the UK trying to stop the construction of new solar power 🌞

At its heart is some climate and environmental misinformation that’s reminiscent of past efforts to block renewables in the UK.

🤔 Let's take a closer look…

Back in the 19th century, engineers dropped their plans for a concrete breakwater pier in Kilcreggan, opting for a wooden piled pier instead.
