If MAPs are a solution to a (manufactured) doctor shortage...

What is going to happen after the doctor shortage is fixed?

Unless there is no plan to fix the doctor shortage other than replacement?

GP Partners

If this is how you are treating your PAs you are putting patients at serious risk of harm

PAs, particularly those straight from uni, are often too naive to understand how dangerous this is

Stop exploiting your staff

“Routinely I don’t discuss with anyone”

Imagine the amount of life threatening conditions being missed because of the ego of someone who is not even aware of what they don’t know.

If a qualified surgeon cut out a cat's gallbladder, they'd be committing an offence, as there are rightly restrictions on who can operate on animals.

That is not considered to be 'gate keeping' or 'protectionism', rather it is necessary to treat animals safely and respectfully.

The way these consultants gloat about training civilians to do surgery whilst their doctors fight tooth and nail to get to theatre is amazing

Punishment for having a medical degree

I’ll say the quiet part

There’s a reason there are no high quality leaders in the PA regime

1 of 3 reasons that one becomes a PA

- Failure to get into med school
- Propensity to take shortcuts
- Genuine desire to do an assist role

Only 1 is valid & 0 are leadership qualities

Something to watch out for in the coming months

The absolute lack of anything resembling leadership from our established medical bodies is utterly pathetic

The CQC can be added to the list of brain-dead puppets if this is true

Absolutely clear that NHS England have lost control with regards to PAs doing inappropriate roles. Lots to answer for Dr Navina Evans & NHS EnglandNMD. Patient safety being compromised on a daily basis

Well meaning PAs have the chance to do the funniest thing.

Join UMAPs and start lobbying for a democratic election and kick Stephen Nash out of his own little enterprise.

Curb the haemorrhage of his idiotic posts damaging not just UMAPs but all PAs he claims to represent.

The GMC, NHS England & Department of Health and Social Care insist PAs are not being used to replace doctors.

But they're not being honest with you.

Here, for example, is a locum agency announcing new software to fill junior doctor shifts with non-doctors.

PAs are doing this across the NHS 🤷‍♀️

‘His presence is a threat to the safety of Physician Associates and doctor colleagues’

This is a new level of pathetic - when will they realise that the victim tactics don’t work, and actually make them look ridiculous?

Whose safety is this Diabetes King threatening please?

Hello Wes Streeting MP, I implore you, as future health secretary to please answer us what the role would be. With respect, I’m unsure how you can make this statement, because either

A) you think they should perform the role of a doctor assistant (basic admin) which already exists

Whilst doctors strike for fair pay…

The NHS creates roles for the untrained, gives them much higher salaries, then to justify the salaries gives them opportunities and responsibilities that we required a medical degree to do (rightly so).

When does the deprofessionalism end?
