I don't have a problem with updated laws. I do wonder about any bias on the system.
And this wont make our roads safer. Dangerous driving laws don't stop 300-400 pedestrians a year being killed by drivers. It's a distraction

In Dec 2023 IDS led a debate opposing 20mph zones and speed humps and urging govt intervention against local authorities.

Where speeding DRIVERS were booked EVERY 47 SECONDS.

Remember Henry, in real life, there are far far more speeding drivers. Who present much more danger to the public.

You can mandate speed limits for cycling at the same time as you mandate geo aware speed limiters for ALL motor vehicles. Not just the new ones.

This is just culture war bollocks that will not make roads less dangerous.

Today, the LibDem's Tim Farron put forward New Clause 91 that would create a new criminal offence for 'failing to meet pollution performance commitment levels'

17 MPs voted for
262 MPs voted against

260 of the MPs that voted no were Conservative MPs

They did this on that day

Mark Harper So you destroy budget for protecting kids cycling to school, propose removing council enforcement powers fir drivers breaking the law & now this waste of time.
More ppl killed by cows than by cyclists.
I wonder how many dead kids your ToryUkip actions have already resulted in?

Are you looking forward to scrutinising the report/data at HATOC for the LTN trial before making any hasty decision?

What about reinstating ACTIVE TRAVEL to your cllrโ€™s portfolio that you removed?

So start of a new municipal year, with Annual Council. With new & returning councillors & appointments of Lord Mayor & Depty.

It seems to have become a custom too for Labour to stop opposition parties from Charing key committees

So another year of marking thier own homework

It is good to see this thoughtful response.

Consultation is about trialling, learning & improving.

We are not sure that the binary keep or remove narrative is helpful or reflective of the actual issues & benefits being identified.

If children can't walk, cycle or scoot safely to school and around their neighbourhood...if they are driven everywhere...who will be the walkers and cyclists of the future?

Today Iโ€™m sad that we appear to live in a culture that favours the dominance of car culture over actual quality of life; a culture that canโ€™t envision a better future; that canโ€™t absorb and process evidence. That is all.
