Agreed there are crime issues all over the county where an expansion of this technology could help. It is not going to solve every issue, but we need to get creative and add tools to our tool box as we focus on improving public safety and fighting crime.

One of the reasons the County Exec Marc Elrich & Montgomery County Department of Police proposed expanding the Drone as First Responder (DFR) to Downtown Bethesda (and Germantown/MV/parts of Gburg) was to help address commercial burglary and theft. Hoping the Montgomery Council approves.

Spending the evening watching the MCPD DFR 'RAVEN' in action. Tonight so far... located someone in mental crisis who needed help, located a wanted violent felon and also located assault suspects. Night is only getting started....

UPDATE: The coyote was located along a trail near Dustin Rd.
It was shot and killed and will be tested for rabies.

This is obviously a terrible tragedy. Thoughts are out to both those directly impacted and the first responders frantically working to rescue those who may still be in the water. Montgomery County MD is prepared to assist in whatever way may be requested in the coming days/weeks.

Downtown Bethesda Armed Robber Arrested: ~9:55AM Wednesday, Wisconsin Ave Tobacco King (Bethesda, MD). Robber thought they could rob the business but was immediately apprehended by responding @MCPnews @2DCommander 2nd District Officers. Firearm recovered as well. H/T @AlanHenney
