Friends of the Everglades is joining the Center for Biological Diversity and other allies in a formal request to the Environmental Protection Agency that seeks new standards for cyanotoxins under the Clean Water Act. We hope the EPA will step in and act where the state of Florida has failed to.

From VoteWater: The agricultural privilege tax means by 2036, EAA farmers could be paying just 4.6% of the cost of operating and maintaining STAs.

In 2036, shouldn't 95.4% of STA capacity be reserved for Lake O water?

If there's one thing we cherish, it's children enjoying the Everglades. The Evaul family, some of our most loyal supporters, took an impromptu trip to Big Cypress National Preserve recently, where the kids weren't afraid to get their feet wet and explore! We love to see it.

'The miracle of the light pours over the green and brown expanse of saw grass and of water, shining and slow-moving below, the grass and water that is the meaning and the central fact of the Everglades of Florida. It is a river of grass.' - Marjory Stoneman Douglas

The prehistoric looking wood stork once flourished in the Florida Everglades, but eventually landed on the endangered species list as wetlands were destroyed the natural water flow was disrupted.

They are why we fight to save the Everglades.

Florida sandhill cranes aren’t the most elusive creatures — you can often see them foraging for food on the side of the road (slow down!) — but they are still a special sight to see, especially when they are teaching their young.

Take a deep, cleansing breath as you scroll through these images of a crisp cypress swamp.

Exhale, then plan your visit to Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.

'[Maggy Hurchalla] lived her truth every day, fought the good fights, and when the bastards got her down, she knew how to rejuvenate herself — by taking others into the waters and wilderness she worked so hard to protect.” — Eve Samples 🌊 naples.floridaweekly.com/articles/flori…

Happy National Siblings Day to these two juvenile great egret chicks, just a few days or weeks old. Egret hatchlings are known to tussle, and sometimes even engage in violent battles in a competition for food.
