Frostburg State University sophomore, Rebecca West, will compete in the Miss Maryland competition June 17-22 in Hagerstown, Md. She was crowned Miss Cumberland in 2023 and currently holds the title of Miss Mountain City 2024.

On Friday, May 3, Frostburg State University hosted the Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. This year’s event featured more than 80 presentations highlighting the work of nearly 140 students.

At the 2024 Frostburg State University Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration held on May 2 and hosted by the Office of Student Engagement, Dr. Katherine Kinsinger, director of Academic Advising, was honored with the Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award.

2024 Commencement speakers are Brianne Helmstetter, College of Education and Health & Natural Sciences; Alivia Melius, College of Arts, Humanities, & Social and Behavioral Sciences; Daniel Baiyeshea, College of Business, Engineering, and Computational & Mathematical Sciences.

Recipients of the 2024 Faculty Achievement Awards are Dr. Michael Murtagh and Dr. Jodi Welsch. The Academic Achievement award winner is Gerry LaFemina, and the recipient of the University and Community Service award is Dr. Justin Dunmyre.

At the 2024 Frostburg State University Leadership and Engagement Awards celebration, Kim Hinds-Brush, FSU’s director of Residence Life and advisor for the Mu Omicron chapter of Phi Mu Delta Fraternity, was honored with the Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award.

A team of four Management students from Frostburg State University won 2nd place in the Written Case Competition at the Society for Advancement of Management’s 2024 International Business Conference held in Orlando.

Frostburg State University has once again received the Military Friendly® School designation marking the 13th straight year earning this honor.

Given continued delays in receiving FAFSA information, Frostburg's Decision Day deadline is once again being extended, from May 15 to June 1 to allow students more time to consider their aid offers and to give FSU and the MHEC time to post accurate and secure award packages.

Dr. Artie L. Travis, VP for Student Affairs at Frostburg State University, and Frostburg’s Children’s Literature Centre (CLC) are among the list of recipients for Allegany County’s inaugural Positive People award. Both were recognized in the Education Support category.

In the spirit of community outreach and engagement, Frostburg State University’s Department of Geography collaborated with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad to present an immersive on-site experience at the renowned Cumberland Bone Cave.

FSU will host the 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, May 3 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Lane University Center. This year's event will feature 83 presentations showcasing the work of nearly 140 students mentored by 46 faculty and staff from all three colleges.

FSU's SHRM recently competed at the Virginia Society for Human Resource Management and were successful in winning first place for their presentation 'Hidden Disabilities in the Workplace.' Team members included Eric Denham, Shannon Casey, Nakya Pack and Teresa Wolf.

Frostburg State University’s Red Rocket League eSports team recently competed in, and won, the Divisional Grand Final Championship, defeating the University of Texas Dallas (UTD) Orange.

In recognition of Administrative Professionals Day, Frostburg Mayor, Robert Flanigan, presented a proclamation to a group of administrative professionals from FSU who are current participants or graduates of ADAPT (Administrative Development and Professional Training).

Frostburg State University’s ASTAR AmeriCorps program recently held another successful Book and Resource Giveaway Community Outreach Project, welcoming a total of 470 patrons to City Place bringing together FSU students and the community.
