First hirundines over the cottage today. 😄

This is more like it! 😎 Wind still has a nip in it but so much better than the Arctic conditions of yesterday.

Blooming horrid day for my first BTO Breeding Bird Surveys of the year in North Devon. Bitterly cold (c5 C) and with a chill wind. Reflected in low species count and individual birds.
Still at least it was dry

This Flat Holm Island lesser black-backed gull was ringed last year as a chick! It has been in so many places in less than a year! We would not know this without the dedication of ring riders across Europe. Thank you!

Ringing at Godborough today brought my first damselflies of the year. A Large Red.
It takes a very small ring before you ask. 😉😂

Red-tailed Bumblebee, Pheasant and azalea.

High, high (these are ff=1000mm and cropped to *&!^) over the cottage this afternoon a Sparrowhawk circles. Lunch is spotted and stoop mode engaged.
Unfortunately he went over the cottage so I didn't get to see the strike, probably something the other side of the woods behind.
