Today, the Government announces it will formally recognise the State of Palestine on May 28th.

Today, we state clearly our unambiguous support for the equal right to security, dignity, and self-determination for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples.

With Óglaigh na hÉireann today in Sarajevo to mark, with great sadness, the anniversary of Garda Sergeant Paul Reid, killed in May 1995 while peacekeeping with UNPROFOR. Our sympathy to Sgt Reid’s family. We also remembered all Irish peacekeepers who lost their lives in service.

Ireland regrets adoption of the so-called “foreign agents law” by the Georgian parliament, despite protests and international criticism. It jeopardises Georgia’s European future. Ireland calls on the Georgian government to withdraw the law and to uphold EU core norms and values.
