62 years ago on May 11, 1962, the Kennedys held a dinner in honor of French Minister of Culture, André Malraux. During their visit to France in 1961, Mrs. Kennedy and Malraux had met, and she called him “the most fascinating man I’ve ever talked to.”

On May 10, 1960, Democratic voters in West Virginia went to the polls in their state’s primary. The state was predominantly Protestant, and Kennedy’s Catholicism would be faced head-on. Part of the campaign’s strategy included this ad, where he discussed his religion.
