This thread seems to be confused between a normative point that the US does have a but is failing; and an empirical point that appeals to R2P are not motivating the US. What’s the implication for IR scholars? Are you a normative scholar or what Dewey called a ‘spectator’?

Don't forget Art.16 of the Rome Statute empowers the UNSC to pass a res. to defer criminal proceedings if there is a threat to peace. Better to first put justice on the table and then defer, rather than assume justice is a problem. theguardian.com/law/2024/apr/2…
