It was great listening to Penei Sewell talk today. He was funny, at ease, and reflective.

He has certainly come a long way: today he said if he stayed in Samoa, he would be a farmer living a simple life, but he always wanted more than that. Now he is the NFL’s highest paid OL.

Getting ready for our final live shot of our WXYZ Detroit draft coverage. Behind me they just announced a final number of 775,000. The previous record was 600k.

Brad Holmes went to bed saying they weren’t going to trade up for the final day. Then he woke up and said, “nahhh.” 😏

Dan Campbell agreed. They both woke up this morning with their sights set on the same guys. They knew to be aggressive and go get them.

Brad Holmes said it was Rod Wood’s idea for the whole draft room crew to wear the black Dan Campbell jerseys. 😂

In Campbell’s first draft, he asked Wood to bring the black jerseys back and Wood said he would when Campbell won the NFC North. Brings it all full circle.

I found Detroiter Scott Paul next to the draft stage and wanted to share our conversation. He was emotional about how proud he is of how the city showed up this week.

“It’s been 50 years of people knocking Detroit. I’ll tell you what. We’re so ready for the world to come here.”

LOVE this from Sione Taufa Vaki. There was talk w/ a lot of teams about both sides of the ball, playing S/RB. 'Only one team matters right now & it's Detroit & I'll play wherever they need me.'

Said if the Lions need him passing out waters to the vets, that's what he's doing to do.😂
