True….I had a Ryder 4 wood & almost always used it off the tee. I figured that even on long holes, if I got half way I’d just hit it again.

I’ve done this….the biggest difficulty is seeing the line but the brain adapts eventually! It it feels right, you’ll know and you should do it.

I was there, actually! I’ll never forget it….
