This is Shore Blvd in Astoria Park - this space used to dominated by cars. But since 2020 it’s become a quiet oasis of pedestrians, runners, bicyclists & skaters.

We are heartbroken that five New Yorkers, including a five-year-old boy, were killed in traffic crashes over the weekend.

No one should fear death or serious injury on our streets, and we are devastated that traffic violence continues to rise, especially in Queens.

The war on cars is waged by people driving cars.

Horrifying. A driver struck two people in Bob Holden’s district, leaving them to die in the street—right near where a DEP driver killed Natalia Garcia-Valencia in March. The VW appears to have Iowa plates. The driver also hit some parked cars. nydailynews.com/2024/05/19/que…

A woman plowed into a family w/ right of way in a crosswalk in broad daylight, in area w/ lots of pedestrians, killing the child and sending the father to the ICU. She faced no fines, loss of car or license. Many motorists believe “a sincere apology” is sufficient consequence.

During the pandemic, Jersey City used leftover tennis court paint and cones to close off the street to make it pedestrian-only. It's now permanent, and I don't know why every single town and city isn't doing it as we speak.

1- The federal government should mandate speed limiters on all vehicles. There is simply no need for a car to go 120mph, ever. 2- It is sad that so many young men have no hobbies or interests besides reckless, fast driving. Huge 🚩. Take his keys away and get him a bus pass.

Here’s the problem with “both sidesing” the chaos that was the Republican Oversight hearing.

Republicans VOTED in cmte to allow the rhetoric that was used against Ms. Crockett last night.

Notice that when Dems have the majority, these things don’t happen.

The street safety McGuinness Blvd redesign had popular support from community members and businesses, until a sudden shift by the administration.

If there was a change that could’ve helped prevent the death of teacher Matt Jensen, we must make that change now. #MakeMcGuinessSafe

All of NYC outside the core served by our legacy subway system should be blanketed with this — can you imagine ten lines like this criss-crossing Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and opened up to towers

New Yorkers deserve reliable, efficient buses.

Ahead of congestion pricing, we need to see more bus lanes across all five boroughs to speed up the nation's slowest buses.

This is such an important point: Walking, transit and to a large extent biking, get safer and BETTER the more people using that mode. Driving has exactly the opposite pattern. The more people who drive, the more it destroys a place and the worse it makes it for everyone.

3 years ago today, we lost a legend.

Matt Jensen was kind, witty, and deeply caring. He was an activist. Sometimes he showed his love through baked goods. He loved his cats and his plants on his fire escape. He loved soccer.
