Trade news: The Chicago Cubs are acquiring right-handed reliever Tyson Miller from the Seattle Mariners for infielder Jake Slaughter, sources tell ESPN.

Miller was recently DFA’d and will join the Cubs in the big leagues. He has been good: 3.09 ERA, 12-to-1 K-to-BB in 11.2 IP.

The #STLCards head into the bottom of the 9th in possession of a 4-3 lead on the #Brewers . If they can hang on, they will end a seven-game losing streak and beat Milwaukee for the first time this season in seven tries. Also, they have lost eight straight to Milwaukee since 2023.

A night after #STLCards reliever Andrew Kittredge allowed Rhys Hoskins to hit a go-ahead, three-run HR, Kittredge came back today and struck the #Brewers slugger today to end the eighth inning.

#STLCards CF Michael Siani drilled a ball into deep right center that landed on the top of the wall and bounced back onto the field. Brendan Donovan came around to score before Siani was thrown out at third.

Siani's second MLB RBI puts the Cards up 4-3.

#STLCards superstar first baseman Paul Goldschmidt comes through again, drilling a grounder through the left side to plate Michael Siani. After trailing 3-0 early on, the Cards have tied the game at 3.

Goldschmidt has a HR and a RBI single in four ABs.

Siani has been one of the Cards most consistent hitters over the past two weeks.

After throwing 42 pitches in the first inning, #STLCards RHP Miles Mikolas has settled in nicely. He got inning-ending double plays in the second and third innings and he struck out #Brewers star Willy Adames to end the fifth with two on base.

Here is a look at Paul Goldschmidt's third HR of the season. He hit a 92.1 mph four-seam fastball from #Brewers RHP Bryce Wilson 392 feet for his first HR since April 22. It left the bat at 103.6 mph.
