Details of the Israel strike(s) on Iran tonight are still not clear. What appears to be (still) the case is that both sides want to retaliate, to be perceived as not weak, but both also want to avoid escalation. This is not meant to reassure too much, as this balance is volatile.

IAEA can confirm that there is no damage to #Iran ’s nuclear sites. DG Rafael MarianoGrossi continues to call for extreme restraint from everybody and reiterates that nuclear facilities should never be a target in military conflicts. IAEA is monitoring the situation very closely.
