Last week, when the Tigers changed starters, Schneider got a text from AJ Hinch. 'That's usually commonplace.'

Schneider says he met with Swanson at the hotel last night.

“The decision is just about performance,” Schneider said, noting Swanson’s injury and his son’s accident in spring. He has a lot of respect for Swanson in a tough year.

“He’s obviously not happy but we need him back.”

News: The #BlueJays have optioned Erik Swanson.

Swanson has a 9.22 ERA over 13.2 innings.
