Update: Deceased Victims Identified
The Laurel Police Department has identified the two victims who have died as a result of this shooting. The victims are 23-year-old Louis B. Rackett, of Washington, D.C., and 21-year-old Quincy P. Green, Jr., of Washington, D.C.

Update on March 7, 2024: Victim Identified

The decedent has been identified as 32-year-old, Jonathan Rocha Diaz, of Alexandria, Virginia.

UPDATE AT 6:30 AM
The entrance way to the apartment complex has been opened.

UPDATE AT 5:50 AM
Contee Road is now open, however the entrance to the Aventura at Contee Crossing Apartments remains closed as the investigation continues.

The 7800 block of Contee Road at the Aventura at Contee Crossing Apartments is closed due to a pedestrian collision. The victim has been transported to a local hospital for their injuries. The driver of the vehicle did remain on scene. This is an ongoing investigation.

We will be conducting training in the 800 Block of Fifth Street between the hours of 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, today.
During this time, residents can expect to hear periodic explosions and loud noises. This is a training exercise and there is no danger to the public.

Laurel Police are on scene at the 410 block of Sandy Spring Road, investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in the parking lot.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
