The NYPD is using “Barnacles” to combat illegal parking.

They are commercial-grade suction cups that latch onto the glass with 1,000 pounds of force, making forcible removal next to impossible.

'SUVs and vans with a hood height greater than 40 inches are about 45% more likely to cause fatalities in pedestrian crashes than cars and other vehicles with a hood height of 30 inches or less and a sloping profile.'

We are devastated and angry to hear that an SUV driver struck and killed a 10-year-old girl today in South Williamsburg.

No parent should ever have to bury their child.

Too many of Birmingham's road engineers, planners, and politicians have designed the public space of our roads to prioritize speed and convenience for car owners above safety for everyone else.

And this, over and over and over, is the result.

“Through incentives and better street design, [San Francisco] can [become the bike-commuting capital of the country].”

“How can San Francisco […] become a more e-bike-friendly city? E-bike share, purchase subsidies and [a connected network of protected bike lanes].”

Yes, this!

At right: Ethan Boyes’s ghost bike, marking the spot where he was killed.

At center: a white car illegally parked.

At left: a man on bike thus forced toward oncoming traffic.

The trustees of Presidio of San Francisco are to blame.

They broke their promise of a “protected” bike lane.

In a classic car brained move, SFMTA engineers design and install a pole for a flashing beacon to 'raise driver awareness' which blocks a sidewalk and makes it unaccessible for people using mobility devices or strollers and isn't ADA compliant.

From hot rods to Ramming trucks, Dodge is the worst offender when it comes to modeling deadly behavior in its advertisements. The agency that outlawed Joe Camel needs to step up.

I discovered it was a great tool for newsgathering and reporting too. Over the last four years, I've cycled 15,000km. This would have cost more than £1000 in fuel. Some of which I could have claimed as expenses. Using my bike costs the BBC nothing. The end.

Destructive car crash at Valencia and 18th Streets, damaging long-time merchant, Taqueria El Buen Sabor, and its building 😔😢

SFMTA should install curbside protected bike lanes on Valencia immediately to make safer and better for business and the planet: BetterValencia.com

Keeping cars out of bike lanes. Maintaining daylighting. Enforcing parking rules. Keeping people safe from reckless drivers. You see how it's done, SFMTA?

A huge problem with US transportation is the people running it think “transit is for poors” which is a root cause of disinvestment and the contempt DOTs often show for transit and its riders—so we get car sewers. Transit will never be good until the people running it use it.

I can't emphasize enough how misinformed Mark Farrell's take on Taraval is. He claims the project is about 'the time it will take a trolley to get up the road'. Most of the construction has been replacing sewer and water on the street.
