Speaking of not spending money on things that might actually make us safer: Australian aid spending is stagnant. We’re not even meeting half of our bipartisan commitment, let alone our UN commitment, and it’s worse today than it was during the Abbott era. #Budget2024

Today we mark Nakba Day. We acknowledge that the Nakba continues to this day. And we acknowledge the steadfastness and strength of Palestinians who continue to struggle for their rights and self-determination.

🚨 Hospitals in #Gaza are reporting that they will only function for a matter of hours due to fuel shortages after the Israeli military closed the #Rafah crossing.

The European Hospital has already run out of fuel and is in blackout.

Fuel and aid must be allowed in immediately.

🚨Rafah’s main hospital is no longer functioning after Israel ordered its evacuation.

This leaves over 1 million people in Rafah with 1 hospital (capacity: 16 beds), a field hospital which serves only as a trauma stabilisation point, and 1 hospital only providing maternity care.
