The Cubs were being no-hit in the 8th inning. They pull out a 3-1 win against the Mets. Quite the victory.

Dansby Swanson's soft liner to center field with nobody out in the 8th inning is the Cubs' first hit of the night against the Mets' Luis Severino.

Mets only up 1-0 as Cubs have two runners on.

The Cubs are hitless through 7 innings and they haven't been particularly close to tallying one, either, against the Mets' Severino, who has thrown 79 pitches.

The Cubs do not have a hit through 5 innings vs. the Mets' Luis Severino.

Bellinger is gradually ramping up baseball activity, including playing catch & light hitting, and trying to do a little more each day.

Counsell: 'We're trying to really do baseball without recreating any pain essentially. And so we're trying to take it easy and so far so good.'

Suzuki went through harder workouts Saturday & Sunday, is getting a recovery day today & then will resume baseball activities tomorrow and Wednesday.

As for whether a rehab assignment is on horizon, Counsell said it's a little soon for that as he still has some steps to clear.

As Justin Steele prepares to make a rehab start Wednesday at Triple-A Iowa, Counsell says they'll see where he's at, but it's possible he returns to Cubs rotation after that outing.

Kyle Hendricks is trending towards a rehab start later this week, though it's not finalized yet.

One thing I miss about living in Philly is being able to take Amtrak up and down the East Coast. Enjoyed getting to use it on this road trip from Boston to NYC.

Train travel is underrated. A shame the infrastructure for it isn’t built up more with better efficiency in Midwest.

Dansby Swanson, with infield playing in on infield grass, runs into LF and nearly makes a great sliding catch. Can't get a clean grab of the ball though and it falls for a Red Sox walk-off win in the 9th.

Cubs (17-11) lose 5-4 and begin a four-game series tomorrow at Mets.

Cubs had nothing going offensively all game and then they open 8th with back-to-back singles before Mike Tauchman slugs game-tying 3-run homer that just clears CF wall.

Tauchman's home run had an .830 expected average & would be gone in 8 of 30 ballparks, according to Statcast.

Jordan Wicks felt forearm soreness while warming up before last start & it went away when he got hot.

But forearm didn’t respond well post start, prompting IL move. Wicks said he’s not overly concerned: “No reason to push it … obviously extremely frustrated we had to do that.”
