Last week, Lakeview Elementary's fifth grade class came together to celebrate the grand opening of their much anticipated new library and to honor the late and much loved member of the Lakeview family, Josephine Wegel.

Last week, Mahopac staff, faculty, students, and community members gathered in the Mahopac High School Gym to honor five more seniors who will be playing college sports next year. Congratulations to Alexis LeBlanc, Emma DeMuro, Julianna Greco, Mia Caldarella, and Brendan Mahoney.

This week we are celebrating many of the staff and faculty who support our students every day. Among Mahopac CSD's critical staff are the Assistant Principals who support our students, staff and faculty members, and the community. Thank you to our Assistant Principals!

Today we are celebrating all of our Teacher Aides and School Monitors, the Mahopac CSD extends its thanks to all of the School Monitors and Teacher Aides who work to support our students and keep our schools safe every day.

MHS's Jennifer Degl gathered 150 students for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on Monday. Students gathered on the turf field equipped with eclipse glasses to watch a near-total eclipse right outside the school. Check out a photo of the eclipse taken by MHS student Yesenia Lewis.

Reminder, all parents, guardians, and community members are invited to attend a presentation, 'D is for Dyslexia', on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Mahopac High School.

The Mahopac CSD is pleased to provide free Universal Pre Kindergarten (UPK ) to 148 families through a random lottery. Deadline to apply for the lottery is April 12, 2024.

MMS students recently enjoyed a visit from author of books such as 'Last Summer in Outer Space', Joshua S. Levy. The prolific author told students about how he wrote his first unpublished book when he was in sixth grade, and that it's never too early or too late to start writing.

Congratulations to our young actors at Mahopac Middle School who put on an incredible performance of Newsies Jr. this past weekend. The cast sang favorites including 'Carrying the Banner,' 'Seize the Day,' and 'Santa Fe' in this timeless story full of spirit and heart.

Some of Mahopac Middle School's bright young writers visited PNW BOCES today to attend the Young Authors Middle Level Colloquium. Students participated in workshops and met other young writers from around the region, working together to exercise and share their creativity.

Tonight, the Mahopac CSD Board of Education will hold a regular board meeting at 7:00 p.m.. Superintendent Christine Tona will host Community Connections at 6:30 p.m. outside the MHS auditorium, before the board meeting.

Austin Road fourth-grade students got a sweet lesson all about maple sugaring this week. Educators at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center took full advantage of the beautiful weather to get students out and exploring the center. Check out the photos of their trip!
