A year ago, millions of lives were turned upside down when conflict began in #Sudan .

At the #Sudan Conference,  Filippo Grandi  & others called for an urgent end to this crisis. Hoping the conference will bring more support to Sudanese & host countries.

Conflict in Sudan and its impact:

A year on, the war in Sudan continues to rage.

Despite the magnitude of the crisis, funding remains critically low.

For #SudanConference  today, UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency urges the international community to step up the response for +8.6 million people displaced in the region

We at UNHCR are with the people of #Rwanda in commemorating the 30th anniversary of the #GenocideAgainstTheTutsi .

Let us remember that one of the worst collective crimes ever was supported by an orchestrated campaign of hate and dehumanization.

A warning, in our troubled times.

It is unfortunately a rare event, but in some places refugees can make the choice of returning home safely — for example in Cameroon, where 10,000 people — among those who had fled to Chad two years ago — have now returned to their homes, with UNHCR support. We wish them well!

There will be many elections in 2024. Some politicians are already using the slogan of “invasion” by migrants and refugees to gain votes.

That argument is both wrong and useless in responding to the challenges of human mobility.

Solutions exist and can be just and effective.

The #GlobalRefugeeForum ended tonight with 1600 pledges by states, cities, organizations, businesses and civil society to support refugees and their hosts — worldwide.

In these dark times this shines a light for millions who otherwise will be left behind.
