“Look Again: The Power of Noticing What Was Always There,” by Sharot and Sunstein, is the best popular science books I’ve read lately. It’s about the science of habituation and the benefits of mixing things up in order to better appreciate good stuff/not get used to bad stuff.

Not enough discussion of the disconnect between the cost + feasibility of automating digital vs physical tasks. Robotics is starting to make serious progress but the gap remains (with digital stuff way cheaper + more mature performance wise) and has lots of implications for jobs.

in regards to recent stuff about how openai handles equity:

we have never clawed back anyone's vested equity, nor will we do that if people do not sign a separation agreement (or don't agree to a non-disparagement agreement). vested equity is vested equity, full stop.
