We are deeply dismayed that recriminalization was accepted. This policy move is not evidence based. It was not developed 'hand in hand' with people with lived experience, or by Indigenous groups like UBCIC, BC First Nations Justice Council, or FNLC.

We will continue to oppose.

At their core, the most fervent arguments in favour of voter ID boil down to the belief that only certain citizens are worthy of voting.

Having ID is seen as evidence of being 'responsible' or 'smart' or 'dedicated' enough to vote. Comments on my posts bear this out.+
