Connie faced pay disparities and was denied a British Empire Medal

She continued to fight for recognition, and in 1992 she was awarded her BEM.

Born in Trinidad, Mona Baptiste became a well-known singer and dancer, bringing her talents to the UK in 1948 where she became a regular artist in radio and TV 📺

It's time we delve into our next inspirational winner from our Women of Achievement award, Gloria Williams 🙌

As an active member of Jamaica's Lingum Vitae Club, Gloria assisted in raising funds for club projects throughout Jamaica, alongside many other inspirational feats.

Introducing our next Women of Achievement honoree, the remarkable Hilda Maud Wilson 🌟

Born in Jamaica, Hilda migrated to the UK, using her culinary expertise to open a restaurant with her partner, which would later become a world-famous 2-star Michelin Resta, the Ledbury 🍴

Part of the Windrush Generation, Rena Linton travelled from Jamaica to England in the 1950's, working as a nurse for over 30 years 🩹

It was such an honour to be at the Women of the Year awards last Friday & accept the Women of Achievement 2023 award on behalf of the Women of the #Windrush . We also took along three of the incredible women who help us with the museum - Carmen, V and Gloria.
