Intermittent showers this morning will gradually taper off today, with some sunshine developing by afternoon. While noticeably warmer weather will move in for Monday, it will also become unsettled with increasingly widespread showers and thunderstorms that will last into Tuesday.

Mostly cloudy skies tonight across much of the area will make it difficult to see the aurora borealis. However, a few pockets of partly cloudy skies will be possible at times across WNY.

Another series of CMEs associated with flare activity from Region 3664 over the past several days are expected to merge and arrive at Earth by midday (UTC) on 12 May. Periods of G4-G5 (Severe-Extreme) geomagnetic storms are likely to follow the arrival of these CMEs.

Cool and unsettled conditions this weekend. Scattered showers will persist across north central NY today. Further west, dry conditions this morning will turn wet with showers this afternoon. A few thunderstorms are possible into this evening. Showers will linger into Sunday.

Rain showers to continue to exit east across the Lake Ontario region tonight. Across Western New York expect partially cloudy skies across the interior portions, otherwise clear along the Lake Erie shoreline and northward into Niagara Falls. Lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Cool today. An area of rain will move northward into the western Southern Tier to the Finger Lakes region today. Scattered showers are possible from the Niagara Frontier to the Saint Lawrence Valley.

Rain showers will spread across the Southern Tier into the Finger Lakes tonight. Temperatures across the higher terrain will drop into the low to mid 40s, while the lower terrain will see temperatures in the upper 40s.

Dry weather is expected through most of today. The chance for showers increases across southwestern NY late this afternoon. Temperatures will be slightly below normal with high temperatures ranging from the mid 50s to lower 60s.

Evening weather update: leftover showers/embedded storms across eastern sections of the area will wind down this evening. A break will then follow overnight/Thursday morning, before shower chances return from south to north later Thursday. Temps will also fall back below normal.

Gusty winds across Western New York this afternoon with gusts 35 to 45 mph. Winds will drop off between 6 and 8 p.m. this evening.

East of Lake Ontario: 2 rounds of showers and storms, 1st ends this morning, 2nd develops later this PM and eve when an isolated severe storm is possible.

There will be plenty of sunshine across western and north central NY today. Temperatures will quickly warm today after a cool start, with highs in the low to mid 70s in most areas. An area of showers and a few thunderstorms will move across the region tonight.

High pressure will build into the region today into Tuesday, resulting in increasing sunshine & above normal temperatures. Showers will move into the area Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning as a warm front approaches & crosses the region.
