Today marks 25 years since the Columbine shooting.
Decades later, students still fear gun violence. This week, the Congressional Dads Caucus met with advocates from New Yorkers Against Gun Violence to discuss how Congress must keep our communities safe. We owe it to the victims and survivors to end gun violence now.
Gun violence is the leading cause of death for kids – too many have endured the horrors of this epidemic.
I welcomed 11 NY students to Congressional Dads Caucus to speak about their gut-wrenching experiences.
The GOP should listen to their stories & tell them directly why they refuse to act.
Our Dads Caucus meeting today was steered by two of our working groups: the Family Mental Health Working Group, led by Rep. Rob Menendez, and the Gun Violence Prevention Working Group, led by Rep. Dan Goldman. We heard stories and examples of how we need to do better for families.
At this week's Congressional Dads Caucus meeting, our Family Mental Health Working Group brought together New Jersey Firefighters, Mental Health America, and NAMI to discuss the importance of mental health and its impact on families.

It’s wrong that in NY families cannot seek damages for the emotional pain and suffering caused by the wrongful death of a loved one. The NYS Senate Democrats are fighting to ensure that our law to change that, Grieving Families Act, makes it into the state budget this year.
Urge support for Senate Bill 8485, the Grieving Families Act. It ensures justice, deters negligence, and values human life beyond economic terms. Let's prioritize compassion over financial status in New York law. #GrievingFamiliesAct #JusticeForAll
