Chair Gordon: A lot of movement and a lot of change in society happens just simply from a spark of hope from somebody, a yearning for better days, and that leads to activism which leads to concrete change. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: I'm hoping that we'll be able to include people with disabilities in Indian country, when it comes to drafting policy, that we'll share that and say this is what -- that's what we have, what do you think, let them tell us. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: We still have problems of course with public transportation. Right now we're working on polling site accessibility. Working on transportation, we're working on employment of people with disabilities. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: IHS finally developed a policy not to discriminate against people with disabilities on COVID or any other time. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: The Navajo Nation is a part of the Indian nation that I'm with, we have over 300k-350k members. Our state, our reservation covers Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. That's a pretty large area. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: Charged by the federal government to provide, be the primary service, medical services for physical and cognitive disabilities, mental disabilities, whatever. And they've never been fully funded. All these years. By the treaties that exist. #NCDmeeting

CM Benally: I just want you to realize that IHS is under the United States Health and Human Services, and IHS how long have they been serving Native Americans? A long time. #NCDmeeting
