Müller shared the 1987 #NobelPrize in Physics with Georg Bednorz for their important break-through in the discovery of superconductivity in ceramic materials.

Sprout Social : #OnThisDay in 1906 Pierre Curie died in a tragic accident. After his death Pierres wife and research partner Marie Curie was offered a government pension but she refused. Instead she continued the pairs studies and in 1911 became the first person to be awarded two Nobel Prizes.

Sprout Social : #OTD in 1910 Nobel Laureate Paul Ehrlich announced the discovery of the first medicine that could cure syphilis. The drug in question had originally been thought to be ineffective but Erlich decided to give it another go, testing it on infected rabbits - to his delight it worked
