A great day helping out our neighbours from the Derbyshire Bat Group with bat box checks at Hilton Gravel Pits. Six species: 1 Soprano Pipistrelle, 1 Common Pipistrelle, 6 Noctule, 3 Daubenton’s, 1 Leisler’s & 31 Natterer’s in one box (a site record) 22 females and 9 males).

Successful release this week of Hal, a juvenile Common Pipistrelle, from Halloughton.

Bat care often involves multi-carer input - Hal was collected and released by Lynn, cared for by Alex, and the area checked prior to release by Clare. Great teamwork!
