HMAS Canberra has arrived home, after providing vital support following tropical cyclones Judy & Kevin - delivering humanitarian supplies, remediating local infrastructure & doing maritime surveys.

With Prime Minister Kalsakau, Nicci Simmonds & Nicolette Brent MBE 🇬🇧 visited yesterday Futuna communities impacted by the twin cyclones. The delegation delivered food aid and supplies.

Great to join 🇵🇬 DFA Secretary Elias Wohengu & Defence Secretary Hari John Akipe on Tuesday in Canberra for productive bilateral discussions. Looking forward to continuing the close collaboration between our nations on our shared priorities.

Good to meet ten Pacific leaders, ministers, heads of regional organisations and climate champions at #COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, including PMs of Cook Islands, Tonga & Palau, & DG of regional org SPREP. Together we are fighting to keep 1.5 alive & to argue for a Pacific COP31.

Great to attend the Joint Heads of Pacific Security meeting alongside General Angus Campbell, AFP & ABF.
🇦🇺 is committed to listening to the security priorities of our Pacific family, including climate action & strengthening our collective capabilities and responses.

Off to a good start at #COP27 in Egypt, meeting Henry Puna, Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum & consulting on bidding to co-host COP31 with the Pacific in 2026.

Ours is the most climate vulnerable region in the world & we need to act now for the future.
