Caol Ila number four and probably the pick of the bunch

The third Caol Ila bottle popped this evening, a £40+fees auction win from earlier in the week. This one has a nice earthiness to it and is a little farmy compared to the other two

Moving on to Caol Ila number 2. Not had one of these Signatory cask strength’s before. Possibly the most beautiful looking bottles.

Might as well start with the lowest ABV. Nice and fruity, with all that mechanical and smoky Caol Ila goodness

This evening feels like a Caol Ila kinda evening. Just need to decide which one to open first 🤔

Loved the punch of tropical fruit in this Indri, but sadly it’s no more

Just missed on a couple of other lots last night, but pleased with getting this Caol Ila. 8 years in refill ex-bourbon and the reviews I’ve read are decent.

Update after tasting this a couple more times. It’s a belting dram. It bursts with a fruitiness I didn’t get on first pour. Apples, peaches, pineapple, along with the below notes. Lovely stuff.

Really enjoyed this sweet, smoky and fruity Ardmore #BottleKill

Lots of similarities with the Watt Whisky Campbeltown 6yo I’ve had recently, with plenty of vanilla and caramel, along with minerals and salinity. Fino adds nice berry notes without overpowering the spirit. Interested to see how this opens up over time and with water. Nice dram.
