It’s completely understandable that he lost his ID. This happens to lots of people. And that’s the point. He should not be disenfranchised. Nor should anyone else. The law is ridiculous.

I am quite drawn to the idea of giving parents an extra vote for each child they have, but I do worry it would concentrate an awful lot of democratic power in the hands of Boris Johnson (assuming he could find his ID).

Today, the government is publishing a consultation on the future of PIP.

🗣️ Almost two thirds of people in destitution have a chronic health condition or disability. People in this position shouldn't be used as a political football. We need action, not rhetoric from politicians.

Around 7 in 10 working-age adults in a family where someone receives PIP and no-one is in work are in material deprivation. 3 times as much as the rate across all working-age households.

The Renters Reform Bill last week being so weak on banning section 21 is especially gutting as we get the latest homelessness stats this morning showing that a record 24k households were threatened with homelessness in 2022/23 or homeless due to a section 21 eviction.
